We are on the lookout for someone to help us sort out the way we go to market, as we kick into the next phase of our evolution as a company.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, please see the “next steps” section below to register your interest.

We have a lot of exciting things happening at the moment, and more to come — this is a great time to join us on our mission.

******

About Us:

Class35 is a boutique consultancy specialising in supporting businesses at key stages of the digital product lifecycle. We’ve helped some of the biggest and fastest growing businesses in the world to transform, grow and launch new digital products and services.

We’ve worked with established market leaders like M&S, NatWest, Fiserv, Deutsche Bank, Uniqlo, Superdrug, Defaqto and BBC — as well as rapid-growth challengers like Xero, GoCardless, TradingView, Iwoca and Pollinate — despite the fact that not many people have heard of us.

Since starting in January 2018, we’ve built our reputation and won new clients primarily through word-of-mouth and referrals. As we continue to grow our client roster, we are now ready to add structure and formality to how we promote ourselves, reach new prospects, and build stronger, more consistent visibility in the market. We are seeking an experienced marketing and growth practitioner to help us establish our market position and implement a more strategic and measurable approach to marketing and business development.

About the Role:

Role Overview

You will act as an “internal consultant” to the management team, working as a core part of our team but using your outsider status to challenge, bring a new perspective and create accountability on deadlines and projects. Whilst we are a team of very strong and experienced consultants, we have a lot to learn on marketing and growth, and are looking to be led by someone who knows what they are doing.

Your primary objectives are:

  • Helping Class35 get to an ownable, entrenched market position, that creates absolute clarity in our value
  • Surfacing all of the resources, client stories and points of view that have made us successful over the last years
  • Creating conversations with potential new clients that would benefit from what we do
  • Establishing a repeatable and low maintenance way of achieving the above on an ongoing basis (not a “one and done” exercise)

How you achieve those objectives is up to you — however, we are less interested in process and plans (buying tools, defining metrics) and more interested in outcomes and action.

Key Responsibilities

1. Positioning and Messaging — Ensure the successful rollout of our positioning and messaging across all touchpoints

2. Digital Presence — refreshing our website, collateral and social channels, ensuring it resonates with the pain points and challenges of our target audience (C-suite executives, business owners, and innovation leaders).

3. Thought Leadership: Convert team know-how and client stories into high-quality content that educates our market on our impact

4. PR & Media: Develop PR strategies to raise awareness of our work and point of view

5. Prospect Management / CRM: Establish key processes and tooling for managing prospects (including lapsed leads, moving stakeholders etc)

6. Marketing Strategy, Plan, Calendar & Measurement: Create and execute a marketing plan and establish ways to measure the success of it

About you

Attributes

This isn’t a perm, long-term job (but could well become one, if of interest) — it will probably start more like an “engagement” and we can review from there. Despite that, we see culture-fit as very important in helping to get the most out of Class35 and its people.

With that in mind, we’ve tried to describe the sort of person we think will thrive below:

You’re a pragmatic and no-nonsense marketer, who has enough experience and judgement to cut complexity and shortcut progress. You are motivated by the prospect of making an immediate impact with a small but successful and growing business that has a great story to tell, but is bad at telling it. You have an intuitive understanding of what clients need to hear and a natural ability to “find the good stuff” in a brand/business. You’re very happy to embody the personality of an underdog / challenger in an industry of giants, and know how to use that voice to make an impact. You are comfortable self-organising and taking the initiative, and happy to be relatively autonomous — but also enjoy being part of a small, close team. You don’t talk in marketing riddles or talk relentlessly about “the process” — and understand that as a team and business, we are far more interested in how you can help us achieve our outcomes. You are easy to work with, but professional — you are responsible for extracting the best of the team and business and know how to do that without much oversight.

Skills

  • Proven experience in positioning and content marketing for boutique services businesses or consultancies
  • Track record for client and revenue growth as an outcome of your work
  • Proven desire to work with challenger businesses
  • Skill and ability to create high quality content by repurposing (sanitised) client work and/or working with the team to author new points of view
  • Demonstrated success in using LinkedIn as a platform for brand building and lead generation
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple efforts, and deliver results with minimal oversight
  • Understanding of the needs of our target market (change makers in big organisations) and knowledge of tactics and messages to win their attention
  • PR and Media outreach experience and network to get content syndicated through authoritative sources
